The name of places often hide a story or give the history of the land. Prior to the reclamation, carried out by the Medici in XVI century, Valdichiana was a marsh and "Peciano" was a little inlet, where the people covered the hulls of the boats with pitch (in italian "impeciare"). Since the reclamation farming became the primary resource, but "peciano" (see "impeciare") has remained the name of this little valley.
In 1957, during the period when farmers began to leave the countryside, Ferdinando Chiovoloni bought the farm called "Peciano". Since these days, together with his family, he has built up, little by little, a modern farm, but always taking into account the traditions and genuineness.
The name of the two apartments "La Posta" and "L'Alloggio", goes back to the primeval age of a part of the present structure.
The oral history tells us about an ancient structure of remote age, that was used as an halting-place for messengers on horseback.
Infact "La Posta" was the house bordering on the road (Cassia Vetus), that during older times, was the only available road and, obviously, used by a lot of people. The structure was composed of a drinking though for animals outside, a stable, where travellers used to change their horses, and on the first floor there was a room "L'Alloggio" where travellers could rest.
